Meet Scott Conway, Real Estate Agent at Legacy Real Estate

Meet Scott Conway (bio) who works as a Buyer and Listing agent in San Francisco, South San Francisco, and the Peninsula. Scott is a longtime Bernal Heights resident where he lives with his wife and two kids.

Where are you from?

I grew up in the San Joaquin valley spending most of my time there in either Taft or Bakersfield. I am a small-town kid and remember the feeling of being intimidated by the big City. It turns out though, that even city people are great people.

How long have you lived here?

28 years – I moved to San Francisco DURING the Oakland hills fires. The hills were literally on fire as we drove down the 580 and headed toward the Bay Bridge. It was surreal and frightening but it stuck and I never looked back having lived here now for more than half of my life.

What did you do before real estate?

I owned a bar/restaurant and worked in the tech industry for companies like Oracle, Sun, and Apple. Learning the inner workings of how tech companies shape culture and provide cutting edge solutions to improve life left an indelible mark on me. Though I left tech to pursue a dream of being self-employed and owning my own business I still look back on those years fondly as I met some amazingly smart and talented people and I learned so much about myself and life in general.

What got you interested in real estate?

My parents were home investors and now have a decent portfolio of rental properties, so you could say it was in my blood. The love of homes and also wanting to share the joys of home-ownership with others was also a big factor in my decision to sell real estate for a living. I absolutely love homes and know a ton about what makes a good investment and the work involved having remodeled three homes of my own.

Tell us about a time where you went above and beyond for a client?

I strive to go above and beyond for every client. Meeting early on Sunday to ease a client’s fear about the construction of new homeowner’s home. Making small repairs to help clients save money is another area of going above, etc. For sellers, I don’t consider myself above going out front of the home to clean trash before a showing/tour/open house. Curb appeal is everything 😃.

What do you love about where you live?

The people. I am always surprised by how many beautiful and interesting people there are in SF. The connections I make inspire me to learn, to read and travel, and to simply listen more as there are some incredible stories in this city. My wife and I found that SF’s Bernal Heights is the perfect place to raise our two young children. We love Bernal’s parks and close proximity to local eateries. There’s always something fun for the kids to do like hikes in Glen Park Canyon or Bernal Hill.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I sing and play guitar and I also traveled for six years while pursuing my interest in photography. Though the camera was really just opening the door for me to learn more about people and different cultures.
